How the work actually runs
Most of what happens here is research with a paper trail. A sourcing or vendor-management role means finding businesses inside a craft cluster, reading what they publish about themselves, and then separating what can be corroborated from what cannot — a registration number matched against the register that issued it, a certificate confirmed with the issuing body rather than accepted as an image, a reference actually contacted. The output is not an opinion about a supplier; it is a dated record naming what was seen and where.
That shapes the job in a way worth knowing before you apply. Every claim we publish has to survive being checked by a reader, so the work rewards people who are comfortable writing "not confirmed" next to something they would rather have been able to confirm. The verification policy is public in our sourcing standards, and it is enforced by the build rather than by a manager, which means nobody can talk a record into a status its evidence does not support.
What we look for
- Willingness to check. The difference between supplier research worth reading and research that is not is entirely in whether somebody followed the link.
- Clear written English. Nearly everything produced here is read by a buyer, a supplier or a search engine, and often in a second language.
- Comfort with ambiguity in the field. Artisan clusters are not tidy. Records disagree, businesses trade under several names, and the honest answer is frequently that we do not yet know.
- Interest in the craft itself. You do not need a background in it, but the people who do this well end up genuinely curious about how the objects are made.
Applications go to the addresses on each role above; tell us which part of the work interests you and point at something you have written or researched. If you want a sense of the house style first, read a few of the sourcing guides or the about page, which sets out plainly what GreenFlip is not.
